Organic clothing range for pioneering plant-based company, Symplicity Foods

Symplicity Foods approached Firefly Merchandise with their need for a range of 100% organic and recycled promotional clothing befitting of their all-natural, zero-waste ethos.

The Customer

Symplicity Foods is an innovative plant-based food company founded in 2020 by Neil Rankin and brothers Mark and Alan Wogan. They aim to reduce reliance on meat by creating nutritious and convenient foods entirely from plants whilst never compromising on flavour.

Alongside Symplicity’s ever-expanding range of plant-based ‘meats’, their zero-waste ideology has led them to develop a selection of additional products. Nduja and Ragu, plus a variety of sauces all created using natural waste and surplus ingredients have been added to the Symplicity offering, with further exciting products in the pipeline.

Two years on from its conception and Symplicity now counts top restaurants and Michelin star chefs as loyal customers, along with home cooks who don’t want a lack of meat to also mean a lack of flavour!

The Brief

Mark Wogan approached Firefly Merchandise to discuss Symplicity’s need for branded clothing, specifically embroidered caps, printed hoodies, and T-shirts. In addition to the clothing was a request for bags and pens.

It was essential that all items support and reflect the values of the business. Whilst the primary focus of Symplicity is taste, sustainability and carbon footprint reduction are also very high on their agenda. They do not believe that flavour should ever, or in fact need ever, come at a cost to the planet. This aligns perfectly with the Firefly philosophy of sourcing high-quality branded promotional merchandise that doesn’t cost the Earth.

In line with their branding, all products were to be black with the Symplicity logo in white.

Our Solution

Discussions began with Mark, as well as Symplicity’s Designer and Marketing Manager Sabina Rai, to ensure we understood their needs, aims, and values. By providing them with samples, visual mock-ups, costs, and lead times, we enabled them to make informed and well-considered choices about what products would help to enhance their brand.

Their final choices included various items of 100% organic cotton clothing, recycled poly cotton bags and biodegradable pens made from recycled wheat plastic – all high-quality, sustainable products.

Once their desired list was confirmed and the order placed, Firefly set to work and within three weeks, all items had been delivered.
