A sustainable branded merchandise case study. 100% recycled PET pens, bottles & travel cups for Alumasc Roofing company rebrand. Highest-quality eco-friendly promotional products.
“Carol was really helpful, and quickly turned around prices and samples that matched the brief and look and feel of the brand story. The products were all biodegradable or had existed before in some way!”
Alumasc Roofing actively pursues sustainability through its range of products and systems. Alongside their ongoing improvements to the manufacturing process, they embody eco-friendly operations through their accreditation to the ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management Standard.
The Brief
Alumasc and their marketing partners, Completely Marketing, approached Firefly to help secure eye-catching yet functional merchandise to accompany their rebrand in July 2021. They were very clear from the start that all products be recycled and most definitely sustainable. Furthermore, the merchandise must reflect their company and brand value with the highest quality finish.
The brief included a sports bottle, travel cup, pen and mug, amongst other items. All goods were to be in black and printed with their logo and company details.
We discussed the marketing brief during our discovery call to fully understand their needs, aims, rebrand objectives, budget, and timeframes. Armed with all the necessary information, a detailed proposal with samples, design mock-ups and cost options. The final order included pens, sports bottles and travel cups, all made from recycled PET material, making them fully recyclable. In addition, they were all packed in individual home-compostable bags, so another big tick in the sustainability box.
Both Alumasc and Completely Marketing were a delight to work through the whole process, giving us valuable feedback at every stage.
As we all know, things don’t always go to plan, and how you deal with adversity is the true sign of your merit and professionalism. This was one of those very rare occasions for Firefly. We experienced a problem with the final printing of the travel cups upon delivery. A line of text was missing, which didn’t match the approved visuals supplied by the print house. As soon as the error was identified, we immediately set to rectify it with the utmost urgency. Within 24 hours, our printing partner reviewed and accepted responsibility for the mistake and initiated a completely new print run of cups. The client was delighted as this meant she could keep the original cups for internal communications and the new, correct versions used for the external campaign.
The matter was resolved quickly and efficiently, with our only priority that our client was happy.
“Once we had developed the brand story and overarching message, it was important to us all that we really do continue to live and breathe the brand values of ‘Environmentally Focussed, Responsibly Sourced, and Ethically Driven’. To be printing lots of brochures and promotional products which weren’t environmentally considered, would totally go against that. So, I set about finding a company who shared the same values in their products, and sourcing, and we of course created all other materials in e-brochure format.
Carol was really helpful, and quickly turned around prices and samples that matched the brief and look and feel of the brand story. The products were all biodegradable or had existed before in some way! The finished products were amazing, and my client Alumasc Roofing were delighted also – win win for all!”
